Tips for Toledo
Shoes, clothing and more topics.
SHOES
It is always advisable to wear practical shoes during a trip, but in the city center of Toledo it is essential. Put away your heels and take out your most comfortable shoes and those with the best soles. The streets of Toledo are not really flat and are made of cobblestones.
CLOTHING
The climate of Toledo is one of the most extreme on the peninsula, both for cold and heat. If you come in winter, cover yourself well, do not forget your gloves, scarf, hat and undershirts. Conversely, in summer, take out your beach clothes, sunglasses, sunscreen and bottle of water. The rainfall is low, although fortunately it rains from time to time.
CAR
Do not try to enter the historic center or your hotel by car. The streets of Toledo are a real trap, and it is very likely that you will leave with a souvenir of Toledo on your bumper. Many tourists (and locals) often find themselves stuck in some streets. For parking, read our instructions in the section “How to get to Toledo”. Consider the option of the bus, taxi, or on foot.
GET A MAP
In the Tourist Offices or in the shops, you can find a map of Toledo, it will be of great help to you. Once you have one, do not worry if you get lost. It is normal, we Toledans also get lost from time to time. It is part of the charm of the city. Do not despair, be patient and enjoy the labyrinth.7
STROLLERS AND WHEELCHAIRS
Toledo is by far not the most suitable city for people with reduced mobility. It is built on a mountain, the slopes are very inclined and are frequent, and the streets are cobbled. If you are going on a guided tour, let us know in advance your situation and we will adapt the route as much as possible. In case you use a stroller, we recommend leaving it at the hotel and using a baby carrier.
PICKPOCKETS
Toledo is a very quiet city in terms of security. Although it is not usual to come across pickpockets, it is recommended to be careful as a tourist, especially in the busiest areas.
